Lazaros Zigomanis has been a writer for over thirty years. He’s had stories and articles published in various print and digital journals, and three screenplays optioned.
Pride, his first YA novel, is a coming-of-age story that follows the mystery behind the emergence of a freakish Indigenous footballer in a country football league. Prior to publication, Pride was shortlisted for the 2011 Atlas Award, and one of the four winners of the 2009 Olvar Wood Fellowship Award, which involved a mentorship on the redraft from author Inga Simpson (Mr Wigg).
His novella, ‘The Shadow in the Wind’, was a semi-finalist in the 2017 Screencraft Cinematic Short Story Contest, and the adapted screenplay a semi-finalist in the 2017 Screencraft Family-Friendly Screenplay Contest.
Currently, Lazaros is working on This, a story which follows a sixteen-year-old as he tries to navigate Year 10 at school, the social demands of being a teenager, and his oppressive Greek parents, while dealing with the onset of a severe anxiety disorder.
